In these lessons, teachers should attempt to spark enthusiasm to continue learning, encourage camaraderie and socialisation and provide enough information to participate fully in the game without overwhelming.
These materials are intended to support clubs to run beginner lessons. They are a starting point for newer teachers and include additional resources that established teachers may find useful. The system used is essentially 5-card major and 3+ minor suit openings and a 1NT opening promising 15-17 HCP. A few conventions are taught, notably simple Stayman and major suit transfers over 1NT.
Although the material is structured as 8 lessons, teachers may wish to move at a different pace and have more or fewer lessons. Victorian teachers can contact [email protected] for access to editable material or to provide details of any corrections/suggested improvements for a next iteration of the material.
